With heavy heart we share that attorney Rep DeLoach’s father-in-law and father to Director of Marketing Simone DeLoach, Scott Bennett, recently passed away in Washington, D.C. following a valiant battle with COVID19. “Scott was an amazing person—outgoing, friendly, athletic and fit—a young and energetic 70-year-old,” exclaimed Rep.

Scott was a proud father, devoted family man, loyal friend and a true renaissance man as an entrepreneur, well-known Washington restaurateur, B&B proprietor, political cartoonist, musician, actor, and so much more. His dynamic personality was a magnet for people of all backgrounds creating enduring friendships in the “big and wonderful world” of Scott Bennett.

He loved life, travel, music, art, scuba, cycling, Nationals baseball, and Washington football. When visiting St. Petersburg, he enjoyed rooting on the Tampa Bay Rays with son-in-law Rep.

According to many tributes received by the family and touted by the DC news, Scott Bennett shall be best remembered as the founder of the Amsterdam Falafelshop and in a recent DC Eater article he was known as an “Adams Morgan Legend”, a culturally diverse and active neighborhood located in DC where he was a long-time resident and business owner.

The staff has been very supportive and attorney Joe Murphy added, "I never had the pleasure of meeting him but I did get to stop by his falafel shop last time in DC. It is a staple restaurant in the area and loved by all. Apparently, he spent quite a bit of time crafting the best falafel recipe. It was honestly the best I've ever had. His passion paid off and everyone noticed. He certainly will be missed. Simone and Rep, you are in our thoughts and prayers."

Please keep Rep and Simone in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Simone and Rep, my heart goes out to you in the loss of your much loved father. Having recently lost my mom, my heart is so tender to those experiencing the same grief. NOTHING can ever take the place of your parent. Thankfulky, the Lord is close to the broken hearted and mourners. May He comfort and heal your pain. Sincerely, Dawn Lafferty (Christiana's mom)
