Clear the Shelters
August 26, 2023
DeLoach, Hofstra & Cavonis, P.A. proudly supported SPCA Tampa Bay’s “Clear the Shelters” event on August 26. With our donation, along with other community sponsors, an impressive 122 fee-waived adoptions took place, creating forever homes for 57 cats, 38 dogs, 14 guinea pigs, 8 rabbits, and 4 pigs. This unprecedented turnout is a testament to our collective commitment to animal welfare. This event marked a historic milestone for SPCA Tampa Bay, as it saw the highest number of adoptions ever achieved during Clear the Shelters. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to every fortunate pet and their new families. Beyond the numbers, this occasion provided an opportunity for their dedicated staff and volunteers to pause, take a breath, and rejoice in the arrival of autumn, signaling the end of the sweltering summer months. It was truly a celebration of compassion and community.

Welcome to the Wild West
March 18, 2022
Giddy up, little doggies! The DHC/STC Legal Beagles brought home our first trophy this year from the 2022 Pinellas Park Firefighters Chili Blaze! Our western theme won 2nd place in the Best Decor category. We had a photo station with a wanted sign for little outlaws, saloon props, and chili crew gussied up in cowboy boots. We had a blazin’ good time serving up probate assistant April Ellison’s award-winning beef and pork chili. Our posse of Simone DeLoach, Angela Durham, April Ellison, Ashleigh Fisichella, Margaux Herodet, Alexa Kunzig, Emily Poole, Pattie Robinson, Sharon Touchton, and co-captains Joe Murphy and Kathy Carpenter served nearly 600 bowls of April’s chili! These funds help those suffering from Muscular Dystrophy by providing medical equipment, treatments, and a summer camp for children. Hats on to The Arts
May 13, 2021
The Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) Collectors Circle hosted a fun-filled cocktail party at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club in celebration of the arts on Thursday, May 13. This sold-out event had a wide assortment of wonderful hats—some hats were created by the guests themselves or were commissioned by local artists. Congratulations to Attorney Rep DeLoach for winning the “Most Creative” hat category with his work of (metal) art by Frank Strunk III, entitled “Flight” (2004). The mechanical bird on the metal lampshade actually flaps its wings to signify flight! Director of Marketing Simone DeLoach recently joined the Board of Directors of the Collectors Circle and Co-Chaired the event with fellow board member and estate planning client, Keith Bucklew. This “friend-raiser” raised over $11,000 toward the Collectors Circle mission to enhance and preserve the permanent collection of the MFA through the acquisition, restoration and conservation of art. On Tuesday, February 21 our attorneys including Rep DeLoach volunteered for the “Wills for Warriors” Program, an annual event hosted by The Center for Excellence in Elder Law at Stetson University College of Law. This important program is in its 5th year and offers free simple estate planning documents, including a will, living will, and health care surrogate, to low-income elderly veterans and their spouses. This not only serves as a valuable service and a thank you to our veterans, but also allows Stetson Law students to have real client interactions, work on real legal documents, and become exposed to the estate planning process. The program also allows our attorneys to work with and mentor a law student, as well as complete some Pro Bono work towards Stetson’s aspirational goals as set by The Florida Bar. He referenced some of the initial ordinances of the City from a copy of the first minutes provided by Mayor Leslie Waters. It was standing room only in the new museum, and there were many questions about the early days. Several longtime residents shared their personal memories. Fellow City founders Dr. Ed Lurie and Nevis Herrington also contributed stories about the roles they played and their historical perspectives. The Seminole Historical Society was founded to highlight historical artifacts, documents, articles and buildings in Seminole.
