DeLoach, Hofstra & Cavonis, P.A. team members at ribbon cutting ceremony

New Name, Same Values

To recognize the hard work and long-time leadership of partner Paul R. Cavonis, the firm has changed its name to DeLoach, Hofstra & Cavonis, P.A. Paul has been a partner since May 2004.

The name change and new logo reflect the firm’s long history and commitment to the ever-growing needs of its clients. The firm was originally founded over four decades ago by Dennis R. DeLoach Jr. in 1976. Then one year later, Peter T. Hofstra (now retired) joined Dennis and they became known as DeLoach & Hofstra, P.A. At that time their practice areas included probate, estate planning, real estate and association law. Paul joined the firm in 1993 and expanded the firm’s practice areas to include injury law and civil litigation. In 2001, D. “Rep” DeLoach III followed in his father’s footsteps and grew the estate planning and elder law practice area to include services in Elder Care Navigation, Medicaid planning and veteran’s benefits. To provide additional legal support for these expanded practice areas, the firm added new attorneys including Joseph M. Murphy in 2012.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, the firm hosted a red carpet ribbon cutting and open house on Wednesday, May 10. Guests included members of the City Council, Seminole Chamber of Commerce, business and community partners, and firm family. Former firm administrator (1983‒2004) and Clerk of the Court Ken Burke was an outstanding Master of Ceremonies to this group of nearly 200 attendees. His unique history with the firm, connection with the community and exceptional talent for telling great stories made this milestone event very personal and touching. In his remarks, Ken thoughtfully pointed out that the "DeLoach" in the firm name represents not only Dennis, but Rep as well who made partner in 2014.

From Dennis' initial decision to leave Fisher & Sauls, P.A. in 1976 to open his own practice--to where we are today--all of our attorneys and staff are so grateful he took the leap and brought us along with him. Our story continues and we are proud to persevere with the same values, compassion and integrity the firm was founded on with expanded legal knowledge and support to continue to do what is best for our clients.

In his closing remarks, Paul aptly summarized that "what makes our firm special is not any individual. It’s everyone who has worked here over the years and the longevity we have had with staff and attorneys. The firm is truly like a family. ” And the ribbon cutting celebration was just that, it felt more like a family reunion than a formal event. As members of our extended family, we welcome you to "DeLoach, Hofstra & Cavonis, P.A." We are steadfast in our commitment and are still here for you, when you need help.
