Celebrating 100 Years of Legal Excellence: SPBA Centennial Gala and New Leadership

On May 15, 1925, a small group of attorneys gathered at the Suwannee Hotel in downtown St. Petersburg to form what would become the St. Petersburg Bar Association (SPBA). One hundred years later—on May 15, 2025—the legal community came together once again to celebrate this remarkable milestone at the SPBA 100th Anniversary Gala, held at the historic Vinoy Grand Ballroom.

Members of the DeLoach, Hofstra & Cavonis, P.A. team were honored to attend and celebrate the Bar's century of service and professionalism. Our firm was proud to serve as a “Spotlight on You” sponsor, demonstrating our ongoing support for the local legal community and its rich legacy.

Joe Murphy Installed as 101st SPBA President

Just a few weeks later, on June 5, 2025, we celebrated another milestone—our own Attorney Joe Murphy was installed as the 101st President of the St. Petersburg Bar Association during the annual Installation and Leadership Celebration at the James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art.

The ceremony, officiated by The Honorable Benjamin Thomas, also recognized the newly appointed 2025–2026 Board of Directors and honored outgoing President Jounice Nealy-Brown for her leadership during the SPBA’s historic centennial year.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Joe, whose dedication, leadership, and service make him an ideal leader for the SPBA's next chapter. We are proud to support him as he works to advance the mission of the Bar and strengthen our legal community. To learn more about the St. Petersburg Bar Association, visit stpetebar.com.
