On Friday, June 20, our office was full of tail wags and smiles as we celebrated Take Your Dog to Work Day—an event that turned an ordinary Friday into a paws-itively fun experience!
Building on the positive momentum from Mindful May and the overwhelming response to Whiskers at Work, this national day provided another opportunity to promote wellness in the workplace.
This national and annual event, created by Pet Sitters International (PSI), celebrated the human-animal bond by inviting dogs into the workplace to promote joy, reduce stress, and foster connection. As a pet-friendly office that already welcomes animals for closings and client visits, it was a natural (and fun!) next step in our ongoing efforts to support wellness at work.
A Day of Fun, Connection, and Canine Companions
Our team came together to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for everyone—human and canine alike. Participating pups stayed in their owner's offices or were leashed while walking through the building. We also checked in with our staff in advance to make sure we were mindful of allergies and sensitivities.
The day was filled with light-hearted fun and optional activities, including:
-
A cheerful "Paw-rade of Puppies": a tail-wagging tour of the office for meet-and-greets
-
A puppy photoshoot to capture the cuteness and camaraderie
- Doggie-themed lunchtime light bites, cake and a chance raffle drawing
-
A refreshing group walk, giving everyone a chance to enjoy the sunshine and movement
Why It Mattered
Bringing dogs into the workplace is more than just fun—it’s backed by science. Even brief interactions with animals can:
-
Increase oxytocin (the “feel-good” hormone)
-
Reduce stress and anxiety
-
Provide structure and purpose
-
Boost mood and reduce feelings of loneliness
-
Encourage physical activity and playfulness
-
Strengthen workplace connection and camaraderie
We’re grateful to everyone who participated and made this special event a success. From furry coworkers curled up under desks to spontaneous puppy meetups in the hallway, the joy was contagious. Most importantly, the event underscored our continued commitment to workplace wellness, making space for the things (and creatures) that make us feel good.
Our internal animal advocacy group, the Legal Beagles, hosted this event.
